Impersonating a Police Officer

Impersonating a police officer is a serious offence.

In order to be found guilty of impersonating a police officer, the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt:

  • That you impersonated a police officer.

  • Duress;
  • Necessity; and
  • You did it for satirical purposes

Penalty

Upon conviction in the Local Court, the maximum penalty is 2 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $11,000.
