Impersonating a police officer is a serious offence.
In order to be found guilty of impersonating a police officer, the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt:
- That you impersonated a police officer.
- Necessity; and
- You did it for satirical purposes
Upon conviction in the Local Court, the maximum penalty is 2 years imprisonment and/or a fine of $11,000.
