A 36 year old Sydney woman crashed and rolled the white Mercedes she was driving after side-swiping several cars in Hargrave St, Paddington – a 600m stretch of road notorious for attracting hooning drivers.
The driver and her husband escaped the wreckage unharmed, however police at the scene allege she failed a mandatory breath test, returning a reading of 0.065. She was charged and ordered to appear in Waverly Local Court early next month.
Neighbours who heard the commotion and left their homes to investigate said the situation was totally surreal. A number of cars were piled up and smashed together in the middle of the road.
The incident, which occurred just after midnight in the early hours of Wednesday morning, is not unlike a recent incident in Bellevue Hill, where a man damaged six cars with his four wheel drive and was subsequently charged with high-range drink driving.
