Two people have been arrested over the alleged assault and stabbing of their housemate in an inner west suburb of Sydney.
Police have alleged that a 42-year-old male had an argument with his house mates, a 56-year old male and 39-year-old female, after returning home at approximately 4pm yesterday.
The two individuals allegedly attempted to assault the victim with metals poles before going to their rooms. It is then that the 59-year-old male attacked the victim with a knife, stabbing him in the abdomen.
The victim fled the house and was met by police before being transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital to be treated for his wounds.
When police attempted to enter the house, the two individuals locked themselves in the house and a stand off ensued for two hours with the male still armed with the knife. The two arrested individuals were then transferred to RPA hospital for treatment too.
The female has since been released from hospital but charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of others.
She will have to adhere to strict conditions for her bail and appear in front of Burwood Local Court in January 2013. The 56-year-old is still under police guard at hospital and will be charged upon his release.
