A Fijian man has been charged with the stabbing murder of his partner at the Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park, North Narrabeen.

At the time that the stabbing occurred, the couple’s son, 13-months-old, was sleeping in a separate room and was not woken during the event.

Inspector Craig Wonders stated that Ratu Serutawake, a 29-year-old male, called family members at approximately 4.30am after the incident.

It is said that his family members travelled to the room where the deceased, a 22-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds.

Paramedics and police then responded to the scene after family members called 000.

The Paramedics tried to revive the victim upon arrival to the scene but were unable to do so.

The accused was present at the scene and arrested. He was transported to Dee Why Police station where he was interviewed.

Forensic specialists were called in to examine the crime scene that the police had established upon arrival.

Later, Mr Serutawake was charged with murder and had a bail application refused at the Hornsby Local court.

The child of the couple has been placed in the care of family members.

Investigations are ongoing with reports being prepared for the coroner. Unfortunately not all of the victim’s family have been traced and contacted yet and as a result, the name will not be released.
